It can be terrifying and confusing when the computer refuses to startup. Error messages are crucial to finding out what the problem is, but the good news is that more often than not the issue is minor.
When a computer starts up, it must load the drivers for things like the scanner, printer, monitor, graphics card, NIC (Network Interface Card), and every thing else the processor needs to communicate and run. Then Windows loads. Any issue with drivers can cause a hiccup in the startup sequence.
To abolish any driver issues, you need to start in SAFE MODE. This is done by pressing the F8 button when the computer starts up. I tap repeatedly until I see the options for loading SAFE MODE. Select the topmost command, and press the ENTER key on the keyboard. If the computer loads to the Windows desktop, with the tiny ‘SAFE MODE’ words at the corners, you can be pretty sure your problem is a driver. If it doesn’t load to Windows, then you need to delve deeper into the problem.
Does the computer make sound? The hard drive makes noise when starting up, spinning/whirring to life. The fan within the computer also turns on to keep the inner components cool during running. If these are not on, then they often need to be replaced.
